I’m Jacques, a peanut farmer in Haiti's Central Plateau region. Like many of my fellow farmers here, I grow peanuts on a small piece of land – about one acre.

The climate and soil here are ideal for growing peanuts. But our crops are not always healthy because most smallholder farmers like me can’t afford the high quality seeds and fertilizers we need to maximize harvests on our small plots of land.

That all changed when the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership set up a peanut depot, staffed by fellow Haitians, on our land.

Today, all farmers within a 5 kilometer radius of this depot have access to these improved supplies and quality training – that’s as many as 200 to 400 farmers.

Thanks to the training and inputs we receive from the depot, we’re now harvesting record quantities of peanuts.

The depot also buys our peanuts at a good price, then takes care of the sorting, testing, and reselling.

Thanks to the depot, our incomes are higher and our community is stronger. There are a dozen depots across Haiti assisting peanut farmers like me.
